Swiss Couple: Found Frozen After 75 Years.
Marceline and Francine Dumoulin were 40 and 37 years old when they went missing. On August 15, 1972, they went to milk their cows to a meadow above Chandolin, in south-western Switzerland. This was 75 years ago.
Last week, they were found frozen in the glaciar, in perfect conditions. Near them, there where personal belongings such as glass bottles, backpacks and books.
They were found on a shrinking glaciar by a ski resort employee. He told the press that from distance, it looked like rocks, but he kept walking and discovered they were to bodies wearing Second World War clothes. "They were perfectly preserved in the glacier and their belongings were intact", said Tschannen (the worker).
The couple left seven children. Their youngest daughter, the only one alive, Marcelin Udry-Dumoulin, explains that after they were missing, the seven brothers were separated and raised with different members of the family, and after a while they became strangers. “We spent our whole lives looking for them, without stopping. We thought that we could give them the funeral they deserved one day", Udry- Dumoulin, now 79 years old, explains to swiss media.
“I can say that after 75 years of waiting this news gives me a deep sense of calm.”
This, besides of being unusual, it´s a clear proof of climate change. The ice is melting and everything that has been hidden for years, is meeting daylight. On the one hand, good for the peace of the family, on the other hand, let´s take care of our planet, if not, we will drown in melted ice.
It's really sad to read about this. That family was distroyed because of the death of their parents. They probably suffered a lot so let's start appreciating our family and most of all our parents. Its difficult at this age to get along with them but they love us and want us to be happy. Its terrible what is happening with global warming but in this case its good that it helped their daughter to finally found peace about what happened to her mother and father.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad they found the bodies so that the family could finally give him a burial and peace of mind to know what really happened to them. That's why you have to make the most of your family as much as you never know what can happen to them.
ReplyDeleteThe only thing that I could imagine being worst than losing someone you love is not knowing what exactly happened to them. I think that the loss and pain can be carry on easily if you have a proper goodbye, I´m glad that Marcelin could finally have this.
ReplyDeleteThe death of your parents its really sad and painful but it is worst if you dont know if they are alive or not. In this case the children didnt know where were their parents so they looked after them this long time. Fortunately Marcelin could finally be more calm knowing that their parents were founded
ReplyDeleteIt should be a total relief to Marcelin about hearing that someone found her parents bodies, I think there`s nothing worst than not being able to know what happened to them after all of these years. We should be aware of what is happening to our planet these days, we are seriously making some serious damage and that would affect tremendously to future generations, we need to take action.
ReplyDeleteThe worst thing that could happen to someone that lost a loved one is not knowing where he or she is or what happened to him/her. Thankfully this family finally had the closure they needed and could give their parents the funeral they had wanted to.

ReplyDeleteIt is not the same to make a funeral with the bodies of your family or close friends that without them. I think that in order to make an appropriate farewell they are of vital importance. I'm glad to hear that they found them after all. On the other hand I am worried about the speed with which the ice melts. Every day it melts faster and this will not stop unless we do something.
How sad is to imagine that something like that could ever happen to us... Sometimes we don't appreciate what we have, starting with our own family. Unfortunetly, only the youngest child had the opportunity to know what really happened to them, while the others died with the doubt in mind.

ReplyDeleteIt is terrible to lose a loved one, worse still is to lose a loved one and not know where I am. It is a frightening and incredible news at the same time. How terrible it was not to be able to bury your parents for 74 years, but it's still a relief to be able to do so, even if it was so late.
I think this is so interesting! Imagine how many things could be hidden under ice and are soon going to be discovered. Maybe we'll find more frozen people but this time from thousands of years ago. This could lead us to many discoveries about how people lived many time ago. There has also been found a few mammoths under ice, imagine how it would be to find a dinosaur!!!
ReplyDeleteThe worst part of losing someone is the way you lose him or her. To lose someone in an accident is completely different than to lose someone because of cancer. Can you imagine how sad it is to lose someone you really love but not knowing what exactly happened to him/her? We should appreciate more what we have in front of us, because we are getting used to appreciate things after we had lost them.
ReplyDeleteI decided to give, this notice a good focus, because altough the famili suffered a lot, this is a great advance for science. We all read that the bodies were conserved in perfect conditiones and that what scientist have been trying to figure out, how we can "travell on time" by using only ice. Even some people say that mr. walt disney is freezed.
ReplyDeleteAt least they found the bodies so the family could know what happened to them, many people go missing in exotic places and they are never found so a lot of people think that were kiddnapped or murdered. I think that because they founde the bodies and they were on good condition they can have a proper funeral and the family can see them for one last time.
ReplyDeleteIt appears to be in some way curious that, being Switzerland a small country, 7 children distributed among members of the family did not have a chance to meet each other for years. Maybe it's an evidence of the type of family in a country as Switzerland. This in Chile would have been unthinkable.
ReplyDeleteThis story shows us that we must respect the mountain and the nature in general.The mountain is unpredictable because the climate changes rapidly, and for this reason an every day rutine, in this case to milk your cows, can end in tragedy and a family got separated. I am glad that the Dumoulin couple was finally found and get a proper funeral.

but I am also concerned that global warming is affecting us, now and nobody is doing anything about it.
There are more concrete examples of global warming itself, but it does not remove the fact that finding bodies of people who lived the last century, and still remain intact, is something incredible.
This is really a tragedy but at least they found the bodies and their sons can live the rest of their life knowing what happened to their parents and about this unusual climate changes, we should be really worried because this affects the whole planet, where we live so we have to start raising awareness to save our planet.
ReplyDeleteI think it is really sad how this accident separated a big family from being brothers to being total strangers, and in a funny way this shows a good thing about global warming, it made an elderly woman have piece in her soul and who knows if the global warming was worse they could have found them earlier and their sons would have known these news before their deaths.
