Being now six months since Donald Trump asume as President of the United States it doesn´t seem like he is following the tradition of having a Presidential pet. It has been nearly 130 years since the last time the President didn´t have any animal companion.
A spokeswoman for Melania Trump, the First Lady, declared that “the first family is still getting settled so there are no plans at this time” of having a pet to join the family.
For many of us this situation will not surprise us if it becomes a controversy around the President, who is persistently criticize by actions far away of political manners. Alan M. Beck, a professor of animal ecology at Purdue University said that by his appearance he thinks that Mr. Trump doesn’t like animals at all: “It’s hard not to notice his lack of commitment to companion animals and nature in general”. This statement that doesn´t flatter the President in any way.
Maybe the President haven´t seen this as a priority, which we can understand, but many policians and influencers have used a pet as a tool to reach out, which may help Trump to improve in approval ratings showing the people more about his human side.

I think we shouldn't expect Donald Trump to follow traditions as he has already surprised us more than once since taking office six months ago. We people like traditions and it is hard to see someone not following them, but maybe, in this case, we will have to resign ourselves to these type of surprises as Donald Trump is a very unpredicable man that takes rush decisions and of whom we can not be sure of his future decisions.
ReplyDeleteWell the point of the teacher can be very successful as Trump has shown in different instances about his position on the environment that would include the animals. What kind of animal would he have? I think a very American dog like a pitbull or an American bulldog

ReplyDeleteDo not bother trump! Is his own decision to have or not a pet, not of the rest, if he does not want to have a dog is not our problem . Also we have realized that Trump is a modern being, able to decide to have a snake or a tarantula, but that is his own decision, not of the rest
In my opinion you are very wrong. Having a pet is a tradition of great importance in the United States and this man, who now comes the power can not decide to break with the cultural history of the country. He is a man without a brain, always taking hasty decisions that breaks with what makes the world a better place. He is a man without a brain, as you are!
DeleteYou are sou agresive! This is a "buena onda" blog Sofía, please calm down! I thought we were friends but now... idk

ReplyDeleteI think Trump is not being strategic, ass titi said, pets are good tools to reach us, but maybe Trump with his arrogancy thinkd that he doesnt need any help to gain people.
ReplyDeleteBefore my eyes this "situation" doesn't seem to be to much of an issue, having or not a pet does not meen that you're not prepared to be a good president. However, being this case associatted to Donald Trump it is not more than one more in the long list of his "breakups" with the traditions of the White House as Sofia said.
ReplyDeleteI think that the dicision of having a pet it is completely personal, and doesn't difine you as a good or bad president, but if this decision involves a tradition it shoul de respected for better public opinion

ReplyDeleteIn my humble opinion, traditions can not last forever, you have to adapt to today's society, and in the case of Trump, if he wants to have a pet or not, it's his problem, they do not have to get in the way of reporters, nor The people of USA, each person in free in their act and has the right not to be judged by their personal views.
I think we all need company every time, and what best than a pet. It is always happy and it can infect their happiness to you. Also it can help to make difficult decisions. In my opinion, a pet is a necessity in our lives, so Mr. Trump should get one, maybe with one, he could be happier and make better decisions.
ReplyDeleteIn my opinion having a dog it´s not an obligation, it´s a tradition and traditions can be broken so President Trump has the right to do whatever he pleases. And not liking animals it´s not going to affect how he runs the country.
ReplyDeleteI think that Donald Trump is being criticized a lot in the White House because of the changes he wants to do in the country, eliminating obamacare for example, and the simple action of buying a dog can be helpful for the view the people have of him.
ReplyDeleteDonald Trump is in his absolute right to do whatever he wants in terms of having a pet, it shouldn´t be an obligation for him to have a dog or an specific animal in the White House, maybe it´s not the best time for him to accept the challenge of having a pet. It might be good in political terms but well, he is the President and can choose if he wants to have any pet rather than have one and don´t care about it, animals deserve love and a lot of time.
ReplyDeleteHaving a pet is a personal decision, it doesn't define you as a good or bad person but if this is a long tradition of united states I agree that it should be respected. I believe that D. Trump is adjusting himself as president and then comes the tradition of having a pet.
