THE BEST TOTAL ECLIPSE SOLAR IN A CENTURY

THE BEST TOTAL ECLIPSE SOLAR IN A CENTURY

A few days ago a total solar eclipse happened over the entire country of United States from coast to coast for the first time since 1918.

To start with a total eclipse of the sun happens when the moon covers completely the visible solar disk creating a shadow on Earth. To see a total eclipse you need to be in the darkest part of this shadow known as the umbra because in the lighter part of the shadow also called the prenumbra it is only seen a partial eclipse. Also it can only happen when the moon is precisely aligned between Earth and the sun.

So this event occurred on August 21st and millions of lucky people were able to watch the moon completely cover the sun and turn day into night for a few minutes.

The total eclipse crossed multiple cities in 12 different states and it started in Oregon to end in South Carolina.

Many people traveled to be sure they can see the moon fully out the sun. Viewers in other parts of the U.S. as well as the rest of North America and parts of Central and South America got to enjoy a partial eclipse and it  looks like the moon takes a bite out the sun.

I think that the people that were lucky enough to see it, they are never going to forget that they were part of something that happens ones in a lifetime

  1. It is impressive to see how people are interested and surprised by nature all the time, in this case in the eclipses. The world has a lot of amazing things and we have to learn how to appreciate them.
